This article touches on some technological advances that have been implemented into most commercial aviation cockpits in recent years. I have seen this implemented directly within the company I work for and I have seen the positive impact it has had on both pre-flight and in-flight planning. Some positives are increased situational awareness for flight crew, less paper and clutter in the cockpit, informed decision making on lateral and vertical navigation for fuel planning purposes as well as turbulence considerations.
Cockpit technology is still advancing and more gains can be expected over the coming years.
